  • USN N1 Deck Jacket

One of the most iconic military jackets ever produced - In 1943, the Navy introduced a redesigned N-1 jacket that featured an olive drab Bedford cord shell. This corded cotton material, named after the textile town of New Bedford, MA, offered enhanced resistance to the harsh conditions of maritime weather. For insulation, the updated jacket switched from wool to double-faced alpaca, which provided greater warmth and comfort. To improve airflow, eyelet vents were added beneath the arms. The knit cuffs, previously prone to catching, were now positioned higher inside the sleeves for durability. The body was also extended, with a new drawstring hem to better shield against harsh weather.

Overall in incredible condition for its age, with obvious signs of wear. Complete label and working original zip - two original front buttons missing. USN and back stencil visible.
