First dispensed in 1938 the first pattern was long to the middle of the thigh and was very thick (30z) not suitable as a battle suit - Generally distributed to drivers, communications and other mobile units. In 1941 the 2nd version was released and the appearance was similar to the first, however the wool did not extend to the collar and the thickness of the wool was reduced to 25oz.
